Maiah resides between Adelaide and Melbourne, working broadly across professional and personal creative projects.
Her professional screen debut was in the widely acclaimed feature Girl Asleep, from director Rosemary Myers. Recent theatre work includes A View from a Bridge, for the State Theatre Company of South Australia, and Emily Loves to Bounce, for Patch Theatre Company. In 2018, she played the lead role of Chloe in Windmill Theatre Company’s Amphibian. She also filmed a guest role in ABC’s The InBESTigators, which is streaming globally on Netflix. Maiah co-leads the queer coming-of-age feature film My First Summer, which will premiere at the 2020 Adelaide Film Festival in late 2020.
Maiah has trained with 16th Street Studio, Howard Fine and Larry Moss. In addition to acting, she writes and directs much of her own work – spanning from small-scale projects across documentary, spoken word, music video and short films, to touring creative instalments of larger film/art exhibitions. She also hosts a podcast, The Social Distance Pod, which critically analyses various social issues and arts practices.
Maiah was awarded Emerging Artist of the Year award by the Adelaide Critic Circle in 2019 for her performance of Catherine in A View From The Bridge.
